Un Magnifique Voyage à Paris
Last week, a group of our students set off on an exciting residential trip to Paris, and what followed was a week full of discovery, culture and unforgettable moments. After an early ferry crossing and a smooth journey, we arrived at our PGL base just outside the city. Students settled in quickly and enjoyed a swim before dinner, easing into the week ahead.
One of the most memorable days was spent in the town of Melun, where students practised their French at the local market. They bought fresh ingredients, prepared their own lunch and even received a warm welcome from the Deputy Mayor.
Later, we visited Fromagerie Gagnot, a family-run cheesemaker that’s been producing Brie since 1865. Students learned about the traditional methods and ended the visit with a tasting session that was a highlight for many.
In Paris, we explored some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Students climbed the Eiffel Tower, cruised along the Seine, and visited both the Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame. A day at Parc Astérix brought a change of pace, with students enjoying the rides and the sunshine.
Evenings were filled with activities – from swimming and crêpe making to a silent disco that proved popular with both students and staff. Many even tried escargot (snails!) for the first time, with some pleasantly surprised by the taste.
It was a packed and rewarding week. Our students embraced every opportunity, represented Beauchamp brilliantly, and returned with new memories, new skills and a deeper appreciation for French culture.
